气体中的杂质，例如烃类，水分，氧气可以污染传输线和仪器，导致色谱柱性能下降并且影响分析结果的准确性，这可能导致仪器停机。即使使用高纯气体，压力调节器或者其它部分的管路依然可以带入污染物，因此外加气体过滤器是非常必要的。
确保高纯度的气体
岛津的超净过滤器可以去除杂质（烃类，水分，氧气）并且保证出口99.9999%的纯气。高纯度和无污染的气体减少了色谱柱的劣化，防止鬼峰和基线波动，消除了过多的检测器噪音，并保持仪器良好的工作性能。
塑料本体有助于检查指示剂和更换滤芯。然而，它也可能使污染物扩散到仪器并可导致氦气泄漏。为了解决这个问题，岛津超净气体过滤器设计成外面包裹塑料，吸附剂填充在玻璃管内，由此防止扩散。
易于读取指示剂
岛津超净过滤器设计了易于读取的指示剂，当吸附剂饱和需要更换滤芯时会有颜色变化。
